Your wedding is the most special and romantic day of your life. In addition to choosing your dress, cake, menu and guest list you will also need to choose a venue. Outdoor wedding venues are popular with many brides. You may want to consider an outdoor wedding if you live in a favorable climate or you are getting married during a warm season like spring or summer. Outdoor locations can offer more natural beauty and charm than any indoor facility. However there are some special considerations when planning for a outdoor wedding.


For example, you should make an alternate plan if the weather turns rainy or cold. Many couples will arrange for a tented area on the property just in case. Others may specify an alternate location on their invitations in case of bad weather. If you are unsure of the weather forecast for your wedding date checking an almanac can help you. You might also want to research the extended forecast on the Internet. While long-term weather predictions aren't always fully accurate they can give you a general idea of what to expect.

There are all kinds of great outdoor locations for your wedding. For example many couples get married on the beach. A beach wedding can be done barefoot, under a portable altar decorated with flowers. If you're nowhere near the beach another possible location could be a park. Your local park may offer a romantic gazebo area where the ceremony can take place and lots of grassy space where you can set up chairs for your guests. Many parks have covered areas with tables where you can go if it rains. Another idea for an outdoor wedding would be a backyard. If your backyard is large enough this can be a fun, casual place to tie the knot.

Reserving outdoor wedding venues is done the same way as reserving indoor wedding venues. You should plan to book the location at least six months ahead of time. If it is a popular location it may be booked up for months which is why advance notice is imperative. Usually a deposit is required to hold the property for the date you want. When sending out your invitations make sure to specify that the wedding will be held outdoors so your guests can dress appropriately.
